CONCERTS from 16h00 :

Monopoly Star Child Searchers (Spencer Clark, Skaters solo, USA)

"Helium-inflected gamelan sonorities create dancing chains of thudding African percussion somewhere between Whitehouse's Racket, the endless rhythmic torrents of Frank Lowe's Black Beings and Terry Riley's all-night tape modulations." - Volcanic Tounge

Nuke Survivor (James Ferraro, Skaters solo, USA)

"The Skaters’ James Ferraro seems to be on a completely different trip than most of his peers on the US psychedelic underground. While bands like Double Leopards and Robedoor, not to mention The Skaters, steep themselves in occultist mystique, James takes his inspiration from the tackier elements of pop culture." - Impose Magazine

Dolphins Into The Future (BE)

"This project is the main focus of Belgium-based musician/tape manipulator, Lieven Martens. The dude takes this game to a new level. He steps it up, mixing tape loops and sounds to create a bizarre glowing atmosphere, one that seems to provide a pathway for it’s listeners to communicate with our animal ancestors. It’s good weed for those of us that would like to abscond from the earth-bound existence" - Volcanic Tounge

P.A.R.A. (USA)

"Labanna Bly aka P.A.R.A, polymorphic goddess identities channeled via intense vocal excitations and primitive mantras. There are aspects of Meredith Monk, Cameron, Fursaxa, the hysterical cinema of Kenneth Anger and Ira Cohen… all filtered through the uniquely brain-erasing, Angus MacLise-to-the-nth-degree New Age label aesthetic." - Volcanic Tounge

Josworld collective is creating a new destination for the front side of the Zennestraat17 building. By graphical interventions they are trying to create a dialogue with the location itself and the surrounding public space. These interventions are seen as a research where Josworld quests themselves but also the medium of what they are working and communicating with. Atypical, crossover, typography are the keywords of their project for Zennestraat17.

Pierre Rubio

Pierre Rubio, Untitled (real stories), 2009
video projection, 45'

The perception of the real and the imaginary representation are cut from the same cloth. Imagination is nothing other than reality; but a slightly shifted reality from its proper space and time to another stage.
It is still about the same reality, but occurring on an unusual stage which represents a kind of protected space : understand by this, not a place of avoiding reality, but on the contrary a place where reality is, in a way, preserved, sheltered from what is constitutionally fragile in the reality itself.
(Clément Rosset)

Pierre Rubio continues to displace the object/medium choreography.
In this new video, he manipulates one of his performances’ unprocessed images from 2006, by combining them with an unpublished textual body.
Very indirectly connected to the visual material, the text proposes parallel fictional elements. The image remains mysterious, speaking in its own way as the text speaks from another space.
The editing of the fragmented material is particular and, taken within complex structures, stimulates a crisis of memory and perception in the spectator.
Which is the reality? That of the body? That of the text? Which present is it about? Or which reality? Or which fiction? What do the main text and the comments have in common? What comes first? Who speaks? … ?
Never mentioned, the words : reality, imagination, illusion, consciousness are omnipresent as subliminal subjects. They resonate through an alternated economy of body images, associations of ideas and recollections producing a specific state. A kind of hypnotic meditation about the contradictory nature of time and the subjective re-invention of reality.

Q-O2

Mieke Lambrigts presents a site-specific sound intervention, using the acoustic qualities found in the space as part of the composition. With hardly anything except for field recordings and sinus tones, she creates a subtle soundtrack that merges almost completely with the environmental sounds and the resonance of the room.

The interactive installation 'Transcriptions' of Kurt Du Tré focuses on the translation of ideas and concepts from one work or medium to another, using the artwork as an open source. Sketches made by Ilona Ruegg for her project 'Infobox' are used as a graphic score, interpreted by different musicians. Users can create with these individual improvisations new compositions.

'Overpass' : an audiovisual performance
The Dutch duo Kok and Deiman create with 'Overpass' a live performance in which video is derived from the sound. Because of the non-explicit relation between the improvised sound and the partly generative video, a distance is obtained between the two. The sound sketches the video without finalizing it. The suggestions towards landscape, architecture and texture introduce the sense of perspective and spatialization without deserting the abstraction.
